Baked Cheese Grits

Creamy, delicious cheese grits. Perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup grits (quick or stone ground)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups boiling water or chicken stock
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions
  1. Add salt to boiling water in a heavy pot and slowly whisk in grits.
  2. Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes if you have quick grits or 20 minutes for stone ground grits, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add butter, milk, and garlic powder and stir to combine.
  4. Add 1 cup cheddar cheese and all the Parmesan cheese.
  5. Mix in the beaten eggs and stir until all the cheese is melted.
  6. Top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake in a 350° oven for 1 hour.
