Hi! Welcome to our homestead: Green Eggs & Goats If you haven’t learned this already, homesteading is a lot like Margaritaville.  It’s more of a state of mind than an actual place!  You can be a homesteader in an apartment, or on a huge farm.  It is the spirit that matters.  Here at Green Eggs & Goats, we embrace the homesteading spirit in many forms, so you will find that our topics range from farming and gardening, animal husbandry and stories, DIY, and of course, delicious recipes with the freshest ingredients available!

Homesteading is like Margaritaville. It's more of a state of mind than an actual place!

One important theme at Green Eggs & Goats is Farm to Table.  Whenever we can, we grow our own.  From fruits and veggies, to meat and dairy animals, to honeybees, we try to produce as much of our own food as possible.  This doesn’t have to be your dream, but it’s great to have others teach and encourage us on our journey!

Come on in, grab a drink and sit on the porch with us!  We’ll learn together how to lead more self-sufficient lives and revive the lost arts of doing things for ourselves!

So where to start?

You are also welcome to connect and get to know me better on Facebook, PinterestInstagram, Twitter and G+!  Questions and comments are always welcome, so feel free to chat!  I do my best to answer questions from the blog or social media promptly!

The BEST way, however to keep up with our farm is to sign up for Beulah’s Moooooooosletter!  (Yes, of course I know she’s a cow. She’s funny!)

  1. Hi! My husband retired from the Navy a couple years ago. We home schooled for several years. Once we settled down in Oklahoma we decided to allow our children to attend high school. My baby girl is graduating this May. As soon that happens we are putting our house on the market to sell. I have 6 acres in South East TX. My sister has 6 acres next door and our uncle lives on the other side of my property. This is the land we grew up on. Our plan at this time is to build a 40′ X 80′ metal building. Half of it will be finished for our house and the other half will be the garage/shop. Them we’ll build our barn and start collecting critters. I’m so excited and I’m trying to read everything I find. Do you have any knowledge about geothermal heating and cooling? I’m very curious about that. Any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated! Love your site.

    1. Thanks for visiting! Your plans sound great! I have been very intrigued by geothermal heating, but I don’t have any useful wisdom or knowledge to share. Are you on Facebook? There are lots of great homesteading pages there. I’d be glad to point you in the right direction if you like! 🙂
